Green Revolution - Seed Collection

Art Of Living with the like minded members in the environment has taken the lead in tree plantation around the periphery of Yeoor hills. This is being done with the help and support from Hariyali, a Thane based NGO that espouses environmental concerns. The aim of this initiative was to contribute our bit in upgrading the environment and reducing the global warming in particular.

Shri Punam Singavi, founder and Shri Sahastrabuddhe both of Hariyali guided the participants in this entire exercise at Nature Center and Yeoor Hills and respectively.
The participants got to know –
Well about the terrain, the flora and fauna of the region.
Of how the seeds were to be picked up especially of looking at the pods so that we get the seeds in bulk with minimum effort.
The technique of sowing the seeds so that their survival and growth rate was better.
Narration of how the area turned green from a barren land by constructing ponds and seeds/saplings in the Nature Centre because of the volunteering efforts done by nature loving members from all walks of life
With the onset of monsoon now, the collected seeds are being used for sowing these in the periphery of Yeoor and for various Tree plantation projects undertaken by Haryali.

It was a very enriching experience for the 40 participants.
The participants went only with the expectations of seed collection drive. However, it also turned out to be a useful knowledge session on nature
The Hariyali representatives while imparting the knowledge took the participants on the nature walk. This was a pleasant experience as the participants did not feel the strain of the 2 hour event on a hot summer day.  It was a very enriching experience for the 40 participants.

While walking on one of the paths, the Nature Centre group came across Leopard excreta.  Shri Punam Sangavi was able to tell which animal the Leopard had eaten before it made its bowel.
At the end of it participants get the satisfaction of contributing towards the Global need  of improving the environment conditions.
